From the first Friday in April to the first Friday in September, the cheese market is held every Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Waagplein in Alkmaar.
Thousands of visitors from all over the world come to Alkmaar especially for this cheese market. The cheeses are sold by traders through handshake deals.
